Mcdonalds, Guilty Pleasure pt 2: Society Strikes Back

Filed under: Health News — EatingToLive @ 7:11 pm

Society now is starting to take notice of the overwhelming frequency of obesity, weight related disease and death. Diseases that have recently been directly linked to poor nutrition, oversized portions, lack of physical activity, and a society that looks at food as they look at money - the more the better. McDonalds also has experimented with various healthier fare. They even had a promotion involving giveaways of pedometers with the purchase of a healthy salad. They are also currently offering a healthier alternative to the traditional but miserably unhealthy breakfast of Egg McMuffins and the new sugar soaked McGriddle, in the form of a tasty apple walnut yogurt salad. Ironically, this “healthy” salad is loaded with sugar and simple carbs, which is actually a hypoglycemic nightmare, but you gotta give it to them - they are trying to branch out and be more “nutritionally aware”. That’s it folks - it’s all gotta be in moderation. As long as you are not abusing the conveniences and admittedly addictive culinary offerings of McDonalds, or you aren’t trying to be the next Morgan Spurlock (the Director/Guinea Pig for the McDonalds documentary “Super Size Me”), you should be just fine indulging in fast food - once in a while.

Supplements for Accelerated Fat Loss, Are they Worth it?

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 1:02 am

Is there really an kind of supplement that can speed up the burn process and metabolism of fat in your body, or are we relinquished to our genetic structure of fat and calorie metabolism? Well, the answer may not be set in stone, but one thing is for sure - many people report having much faster weight and fat loss on certain supplements than they’ve had in the past without the help of any supplementation in their diet. There are, in fact natural compounds that can achieve accelerated fat loss and weight reduction in two ways, through something called thermogenesis, which speeds up your internal “metabolism clock” and subsequently burns calories at a faster pace, and also with natural substances that have been proven to partially block the absorption and storage of excess fat consumed in one’s diet. There is a newer product, called FastFatReduction, which employs a little of both of these techniques in order to speed up the rate at which we burn fat, as well as slow the rate at which we store fat, which in turn results in faster fat loss for people trying to lose weight and fat while retaining lean muscle. This supplement uses the technology of a natural substance called Chitosan, which you may have heard of before.

The Ingredients in the Brazilian Diet Pills are Causing Serious Health Issues

Filed under: Health News, Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 9:05 pm

Some people do know about the substances in this product, and due to the societal pressure to be thin, have still chosen to purchase and use it, in hopes of quickly slimming down. A word of caution: While this product may in fact help you to quickly shed unwanted excess pounds, it also has a real potential to become addictive, since it contains addictive controlled substances (amphetamines - or speed) which the human body becomes accustomed to, and starts to need more and more of just to sustain the weight loss and appetite loss. My advice is, if you really want to lose weight, and you want to be safe - stay away from these Brazilian Diet products. We are just now beginning to see the harmful and even life threatening effects, and I believe we may even see government agency intervention soon if the reports of extreme side effects keep coming in. If you have taken this product and have experienced negative effects, you may want to contact the FDA or even the Better Business Bureau. On the contrary, if you have taken one of these products and had exceptional results without a wink of side effects, by all means get that information out to the right people as well. A good alternative to this type of fad product is to just go for what you know is safe. There are some EXCELLENT and very safe, non-addictive diet aids (for example safe herbal alternatives to Fen Phen) on the market today that really are 100% natural and really do reduce your appetite and help you lose the weight you need to quickly and effectively. And, you don’t put it right back on when you stop the product.

Why Bowtrol is the Best Colon Cleanser and Colon Detoxification Product

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 4:25 pm

1.) Colon Cleansing - The colon cleanser part of the Bowtrol Cleansing and Detoxification system is an absolute necessity for restoring regularity and comfort to your life. The best colon cleansers will cleanse away toxic and stagnant substances from your colon that may have literally been polluting your digestive and waste system for years. You can see why the colon cleanser is vital to any detox product for the colon. Bowtrol has one of the most potent and effective colon cleansers on the market. It’s so effective that it’s been discussed and recommended on many support group forums for health as well as for people with IBS. Herbs are one of the best ways to naturally cleanse the colon, since they do not cause any side effects and will not build up and add toxins to your colon as many chemical formulas will do.

2.) Active Cultures or Probiotics - Probiotics, acidophilus or active cultures (as you see in some yogurts), are absolute essentials within your digestive tract. These flora help to kill off harmful bacteria and toxins, as well as to tone and repair the colon allowing for smooth evacuation and comfort and continued health and maintenance of your entire digestive tract, allowing for proper and complete digestion and utilization of your food intake.

3.) Herbs Which Target Parasites Responsible for Toxin Buildup and Pollution of the Colon - The killing of harmful parasites that may inhabit your digestive tract is also an absolute necessity for any colon cleansing and detoxification system. Without this, you are only targeting part of the problem and not addressing each potential aggravator of the condition. If you want to use herbal or natural supplementation as a part of your overall strategy for getting and staying regular, it’s important to look for something that not only addresses and corrects the issue of regularity, but also helps to cleanse and repair the digestive and waste tracts that have no doubt suffered damage over the years.. This way, you can regulate your body and repair years of damage at the same time. And you won’t believe how good you’ll feel.

How does a carb blocker work?

Filed under: Weight Loss, Dietary Supplements, Herbal Supplements — EatingToLive @ 1:14 pm

Here’s how a carb blocker works. The best carb blockers are designed to help naturally block carbohydrates from complete utilization and entry into the bloodstream as glycemic sugars, control carb cravings, boost energy levels and block the “bad” fats from complete absorption. Carb blockers usually are taken at a given time before meals. The idea behind the timing is to help stop the meal from completely being utlized by your body as excess carbs, and to help prevent that excess intake from being converted into fat, or extra pounds. “Phase 2″ is the only clinically studied and proven carb blocker today, so make sure you choose a carb blocking supplement that contains this ingredient. I do have to say, the best part about carb blockers is that they do not contain stimulants such as ma huang, ephedra or other stimulants.

Brazilian Diet Pills - New Diet Fad Causing Serious Health Issues

Filed under: Dietary Supplements, Herbal Supplements — EatingToLive @ 9:15 pm

nyone familiar with the latest diet pills and methods has probably heard of the latest concern (or frenzy) on the weightless market: Brazilian Diet Pills. Brazilian Diet Pills, specifically certain brands, seem to have been wreaking havoc on people’s health around the world. And yet people are still searching for them on the internet in hopes of shedding weight unusually fast. Let’s start from the beginning. A Brazilian company began marketing a particular “all natural” diet pill which had recommended dosages of a specific color coded pill to be taken in the morning, and a specific color coded pill to be taken at night. The dosages are varied according to where you are in your weight loss goals, as well as what your individual preferences or health issue are. These diet pills are still marketed as a “Magic Pill”. We all know there is no such thing. We want to believe that, which is why this product has seen some interest, but it quite simply is not true - and not without its price. My prediction is, the FDA will get wind of this fairly soon, and put a ban or strict limitations on this product, just as they did with Ephedra. The signs are all around. Women are reporting on forums that people they know have taken the Brazilian Diet Pill and while they have dropped significant amounts of weight in a short period, many people have suffered fainting spells, heart palpitations and even cardiac arrests, presumably linked to the ingestion of this weightless product. An analysis on the pills has shown trace amounts of illegal amphetamines, as well as prescription antidepressants and even a tranquilizer in the night time pills, to counteract the effects of the speed you’ve taken during the day in the daytime formula, so that you can actually sleep. The really sad part of this is, the product is marketed as “Blended with Natural Herbs from the reinforced”, when in fact chemical analysis has shown man made and extremely dangerous and volatile substances.

McDonalds…Everyone’s Guilty Pleasure

Filed under: Health News — EatingToLive @ 9:55 pm

McDonalds and Nutrition - an Oxymoron or Not? The ever popular, omnipotent McDonalds fast food chain has been trying for a few years now to mend the fences with activists and public service groups who protest the chain’s marketing of nutritionally void food. In the wake of lots of bad publicity, and a negative documentary profiling the adverse health effects McDonalds menu can have on ones health, the fast food giant is desperately trying to regain public approval. But is it working? And do most people care? Well, the answer to one of those questions is that while most people who go to McDonalds know what they are getting, and don’t mind that it doesn’t offer much in the way of waist-conscious fare, the new company-initiated push for a nutritionally responsible menu and labeling seems to be falling on deaf ears for the most part. For example, the fast food giant recently unveiled its new nutritional information packaging at the winter Olympic games in an effort to gain back some of the perceived public trust. Public trust that had been lost through a wave of Supersize critcism, a tell-all documentary (that really told us all what we already knew deep down anyways about consuming fast food) and an increasingly health conscious society. But does society really want them to or ask them to be more nutritionally responsible, or even be politically correct? Aside from the ever present protesters crusading for better food offerings to the general public, does the ACTUAL general public really want this - from McDonalds? I don’t know about you, but when I go to McDonalds, which is very seldom since I do try to watch what I eat, I fully expect to get a very tasty Big Mac or Double Cheeseburger with a Super Size order of fries, enjoy every minute of this guilty pleasure, and then be on my merry way to eating healthy the next day.
