Fighting Cellulite

Filed under: Health News, Herbal Supplements — EatingToLive @ 9:22 pm

Cellulite has been the bane of every women’s (heck, even men get it!) existence since the dawn of time. We all have it to varying degrees, and it seems to get worse as we get older in many cases. So, should we just resign ourselves to the fact that it is here to stay, or is there a way to diminish and effectively treat cellulite?Thankfully, the answer is yes, we can reduce our cellulite through several therapeutic treatments that are available on the market today. It is not, however, cellulite removal a one-time deal. Once you stop the treatments, the cellulite will inevitably return. So, the treatment of cellulite is an ongoing commitment, and it should be incorporated as part of your daily beauty regimen for consistent and lasting reduction in it’s appearance

Features: Only weighs 108 pounds - Light! Adjustable fan to keep you cool during workouts Bio-Fit pedals for comfort Bottle holders located under seat for easy access1 6 levels of resistance Price at time of print: $449.00

Consumer Review: Best Buy from Consumer Reports and it is!We purchased this locally a few weeks ago. My husband did the actual assembly, and except for one part where it took my fresh eyes to figure out a minor thing he had missed, it went pretty well. Bike started immediately.

It’s pretty comfortable to ride, quiet, programs are easy to understand (I’m pretty low end at this point, but will build up in time.) Normally I like to walk, but in the cold and wet of Seattle winters, I need something else. And I am short (5′3″) and don’t want to stress my back or knees more than necessary.

This bike is 1/3 the price of any half-way decent treadmill or elliptical, takes up less space, and is adjustable to fit either me or my husband (he’s 6′3″!) It takes a bit to get used to, if you are not a bike rider (I’m not!) but all-in-all I think you are getting an excellent machine for the money, and it IS a Consumer Reports Best Buy, one of the reasons we chose to purchase this. I like the selection of programs and that you can also just get on it and go, or even set your own program.

It is pretty quiet, a plus because I like to watch tv while using the bike, less guilt by doing something useful while in front of the idiot box! if you are looking for something that will work, give you some variety, and don’t want to spend the much larger amounts for a treadmill or elliptical, this is a very good product to invest your money and time in.

Recumbent Exercise Bike Reviews : What to Look For in a Stationary Bike

Filed under: Exercise Equipment — EatingToLive @ 10:34 am

Here is a list of things to look for in your search.

1.) It should have an easily adjustable seat for easy leg length adjustment. Upright exercise bikes should have good leg length control for joint safety and comfort.

2.) Look for a quality console that will display your heart rate, miles cycled, pulse rate and calories burned.

3.) Noise control. The best recumbent bikes will have a good noise control system and should not be too distracting.

4.) Tension control. Quality bikes will have an easily controlled tension setting for resistance workouts.

5.) Is it easily stored? Most Bikes will feature breakdown or fold up option for easy storage.

6)Brand name is important also. The cheaper models and brands will not provide you with the same versatility and quality as the better models

Review: Fat Smash Diet Phase I

Filed under: Weight Loss, Diet Reviews — EatingToLive @ 9:38 pm

I’m currently doing the Fat Smash diet.  This is popular diet by Dr. Ian Smith of Celebrity Fit Club. The diet is broken up into 4 phases.  I just recently completed Phase I, which is a nine day detox.  The majority of your food is Fruits and Veggies.   Your also allowed oatmeal and egg whites, and brown rice.  It basically teaches you portion control.  You have about 5 meals a day so you dont really need to gorge yourself.  I eat at 8, 11, 2, 5, 7, and 9.  So far I have really enjoyed it.  Im not having any hunger pangs or gastric issues.  Considering I used to be an atkins guy.  The fact that i’m not having meat isnt really affecting me.  In the first phase I lost at total of 9′lbs in 9 days.  Not bad!   Im starting Phase II today so I will be introucing some meats and cheeses to my diet.  This phase is 3 weeks so it will be awhile till i review it.  I highly recommend this diet so far.  It was really easy to follow.  Fat Smash diet Phase I= A

Cellulite Release Capsules - Oral Cellulite Treatment

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 10:40 pm

These all natural capsules are designed to help break down the fat pockets and the impurities that cause cellulite’s spongy appearance. This is a great overall toning supplement that you will notice a difference in you cellulite with about 5 weeks of use - the longer you take it - the better your results will be. I recommend taking this supplement along with a cellulite cream or serum rubbed directly onto the effective area. This will provide maximum results by attacking the cellulite both from within and externally helping to break it down and tighten it with tightening and toning ingredients found in cellulite gels, creams and lotions.

Elliptical Trainer Reviews One of the BEST Forms of Cardio: Features You Should Look For

Filed under: Exercise Equipment — EatingToLive @ 10:40 pm

What to look for in an elliptical machine, like the Horizon series of ellipticals :

1.) Range of motion. The strides should be long and smooth, not choppy and short.

2.) Ease of glide. If it feels like it’s too hard to move things along, this is a sign of a bad elliptical - probably cheaply made.

3.) Noise. The best elliptical trainers will have a good noise control system for minimum nuisance and perceived tranquility.

4.) Detailed console. Extras like heart rate, calories burned and special workouts may be something you are looking for. 5.) Easy storage. Do you want one that is “foldable” for easier storage, or does this not matter?

Hoodia, the New Ephedra?

Filed under: Health News, Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 10:53 pm

“Hoodia Gordonii - the latest in the “Holy Grail” of weight loss and appetite suppression, is becoming overexposed, over advertised, and in many ways, is looking more and more like the new ephedra. Why the comparison to ephedra? It’s the here today, gone tomorrow fad. Of course, ephedra was banned fairly recently, and has severe health risks, but the comparison holds true. So, is there really truth to the rumors of this rising dieting fad, or is it just another marketing ploy by savvy advertisers who know what people want?

Shortage of Organic Food?

Filed under: Health News, Dieting Trends — EatingToLive @ 10:29 am

All organic foods are on the rise.  Orgainic food still represents a small portion of the nation’s food market (about 2.5%) but its growing popularity is causing to inflate at an incredible rate. Organic means that food is grown without fertilizer, hormones, biotechnology, or bug killer
Organic food has  grown in sales by 15-20% each year.  Mainstream supermarkets are jumping on the trend.  Kroger, Safeway, and others are even selling their own organic foods.  Wal-Mart plans to double its organic food supply.

Organic farms are on the rise also.  Around 10,000+ are in existence as of now.  This number is still not enough for the growing trend.  Organic companies are having to look outside the US for products.  So, if a company needs a large amount of an organic ingredient it is usually already spoken for with the U.S.  So right now we are importing more organic ingredients than we are exporting.

Organic companies are working to increase U.S. organic farms.  Offering money to switch to organic production.  The are currently spending around $2 million on expected help for 2006

Let’s just hope that we dont exhaust the world’s supply of organic food as the trend catches on.  Organic food already is more expensive than its counterpart.  The more exporting the U.S. does the more the price will grow.
