Tetrazene Review Coming Soon

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 6:55 pm

So, I’ve tried so many other dietary supplements that are supposed to help me lose weight in the past, that when I happened across a little bit of hype over this newer product called Tetrazene, which comes in two different formulas, I got a little curious, and I ordered a bottle of it.  I ordered the type that does not have any sort of stimulants in it, ie caffeine, green tea or any other names that diet pills like to try to hide behind when in fact it is a stimulant.

The formula I ordered is called the KGM-90 formula, and it does not have any ECGC compounds (green tea), which tend to make me a bit nervous and jittery becuase of their caffeine content.  The formula of Tetrazene I got contains only the soluble fiber that is what is supposed to make this stuff work.  I

‘ve read numerous reviews of the product, some saying it filled people up wonderfully and inhibited their appetite, making them eat dramatically less, and some saying that the diet pill did absolutely nothing for them in the appetite suppressant or weight loss department.  You have to take two pills prior to every meal, which may be a bit bothersome, but I’m willing to try it for a month to see if it can help me get rid of these last few stubborn holiday pounds around my thighs and belly.

More to come!  I will share the results and experience/review with you as soon as I figure I’ve given it enough time to make a fair judgment.

Cinnamon a Natural Appetite Suppressant?

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 4:00 pm

I had read in a couple of different places, both online and in magazines, that cinnamon was being hailed as a mild appetite suppressant, as well as a stabilizer of blood sugar.  Mind you, there is a HUGE connection between blood sugar levels and hunger, hence the reasons for people with unstable blood sugar to have ravenous appetites much of the time.  So this connection between hunger, appetite and blood sugar levels that has been insinuated about the common spice cinnamon does make sense logically.  But does it work?

Well, I set out to figure that out, and here’s my conclusion about whether cinnamons naturally suppresses the appetite.  I found that I think it does, although it seems fairly short lived, so for me, I did have to keep taking the cinnamon to achieve constant results.

Here’s what I did.  I actually had a small shaker of cinnamon in my desk at work which I had gone through a phase using in my coffee and hot chocolate for a while, so I decided I would take a small dose of cinnamon in the morning with my breakfast to see if it staved off my usuall “mid morning” hunger, and voila, it did seem to lessen my hunger, as well as prevent me from getting the shakes, which I will usually get around ten to eleven, since I eat very early in the morning - around seven, and I’m the type of person who does have to eat at frequent intervals to keep my blood sugar steady.

I noticed this lack of shakiness and seeming evenness of mood and concentration throughout the morning, when usually I’d be thinking about food already by about ten o’clock, since I do need to eat every so often.  I just took probably not even a fourth of a teaspoon, but I took it straight - I didn’t mix it with anything, I just shook it out onto my hand and licked it right off!  Not the tastiest thing, but it’s also not horrible - it is, after all - cinnamon.

So if you’re looking for an experiment on how to naturally suppress the appetite, and you have some cinnamon laying around, there’s no harm in seeing what it does or doesn’t do for you, that is if you can stomach the taste of cinnamon, and I don’t know many people who don’t like the spice.  Just imagine you’re eating a slice of pumpkin pie and that may help it go down.  Don’t take it with sugar though, or you will defeat the purpose.

Bowtrol Review

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 9:25 am

Well, I figured I’d point out, since tis the season for over doing it on food, which often includes lots of cheese, crackers and other starches and dairies, including system clogging fats and sweets, that we have a review on DDB of a very effective and popular bowel cleanser that is all natural called Bowtrol.

We reviewed Bowtrol because we feel that the colon is the root of many health problems, and it is the thing that keeps us feeling good, emptied out, and healthy.  When our bowels are clogged, including our colons, our intestines and our bellies, it means that other systems suffer the consequences as well.  In fact, when we are clogged up, or constipated often, we tend to get cranky, anxious and we just feel that we are not “well” as we should be.

It is a complete system (or you can also purchase the separate components if you don’t want the whole system), that is designed to clear out the entire digestive and waste tract of debris, including excess mucus and deposits left by those of us who love our dairy.  It then also includes another step in the process, which is to add healthy flora back into the digestive tract.

This healthy flora actually helps us feel gas free and good since it helps to mitigate gas buildup in the intestines, and is a necessity for a smooth flowing digestive and elimination system.  Not only that, but the Bowtrol bowel cleanser, which gently cleanses the bowels of waste by increasing the output of waste from our bodies and cleansing the tract that pushes it all through, helps to rebuild the strength and efficiency of systems that have been slowed by years of build up or abuse - or neglect.

Let’s face it, we all want to eat healthfully in way that supports bowel and digestive health, but we cannot always do it.  That’s why I’m thankful that a system such as Bowtrol offers a way to sort of undo some of that.  See the Bowtrol review for a complete review of the bowel cleanser system.

Can Antioxidant Juices Help with Dieting?

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 8:23 pm

I’ve had this fascination recently with antioxidant juices, ie those juices that usually come from exotic fruits in far away places, that claim to contain huge amounts of the infamous antioxidant compound that has claimed to be the next coming in the world of health and well being, and anti aging.  And what about dieting?  Might the curious little antioxidant have a benefit when it comes to dieting and weightloss?

Well, while I don’t really think that antioxidants have a huge effect on weight loss or actually suppressing the appetite, I do think they can provide some really great benefits in terms of increasing energy levels naturally by helping us to eliminate free radicals, those nasty cells that cause healthy cell damage, so that we can focus more of our energies on, well, energy, instead of fighting off free radicals and other things that inhabit our body that aren’t so good for it.

Antioxidants are in many multi vitamins now, so you can get some of them via vitamin, but ultimately, the best source of serious antioxidant power is through eating actual foods like fruits that are bright in color or very, very dark in color, tend to have a multitude of antioxidants in them . They also tend to taste very good, and the good thing is, antioxidant rich foods tend to be excellent for our weightloss because they are usually nutrient rich as well as high in fiber (pulp and fibrous filling in fruits).

Fruits and berries that are naturally high in antioxidant compounds that I know of are blueberries, acai berries, mangosteen fruit, noni juice, broccoli, and other darkly or richly colored fruits and veggies tend to be very rich in these magical little compounds.  They are an excellent addition to the diet, and the healthy eating may inspire more healthy eating, so I say eating an antioxidant rich diet is a win-win situation in the world of health, anti aging, and weight loss.

Carb Blocker Supplements Efficiency

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 6:06 pm

It used to be that carb blockers were somewhat of a joke.  The ones that you saw on the shelves in the local drug store did sell quickly at first since carb blocking was a somewhat novel idea at that point, but it quickly became apparent that using these blockers really did nothing but block you up, literally.

I tried one of them, and I was not able to go to the bathroom for a few days, and I’m usually regular and go every single morning after I eat breakfast. It seemed that whatever material they used that they said worked as a carb or fat blocker, expanded too much in the stomach, and actually created almost a sort of intestinal blockage, and that’s why I was having problems.

Needless to say, I discontinued their use and hoped they might be more perfected one day.  Well, the Dietrine carb blocker that we talk about here How Carb Blockers Work, actually contains a patented ingredient that does really help to absorb excess carb intake, without making you irregular. So, basically it does allow for those extra carbs that you feel guilty about be absorbed and harmlessly flushed away.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Weight Control

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 10:46 am

I remember about a year or so ago, at work, my boss or someone else in my practice group read that drinking shots of apple cider vinegar, or ACV, to help encourage weight loss and digestion.  So, naturally, all the women in my group tried out this concept because my gosh, if you could help control your weight or to even actually lose weight just by doing a shot of vinegar at every meal, why not, right?

Well it turns out that it turns some people’s stomach to do a shot of the mouth-puckering stuff, but for me I could definitely handle it because I’m used to chewing my vitamins to get the most out of them, and I have a fairly strong stomach.  I have to say that apple cider vinegar did work on me as a mild natural appetite suppressant first of all, but not enough of one to make any big dents in my many times bottomless appetite

So, there we were, doing shots of organic apple cider vinegar, or ACV, every day, before every meal.  Before you knew it, the place where we sat began to smell like a big vinegar factory!  Most of us were doing it with Braggs infamous ACV with “the mother”, which is the enzymes and good stuff that’s left over in the distill process of organic vinegar and is a must if you want to glean all the positive benefits of apple cider vinegar.  It looks like little spindly white pieces floating around in the vinegar, and must be shaken to get a little in every shot.

I think that my experience with ACV did help me as far as digestion and acid reflux goes, but I’m not so sure that doing the vinegar shots alone would actually result in any weight loss as some have said before.  I didn’t change my diet while doing it, and subsequently did not lose weight, so I have a feeling that those that claim they lost weight by only doing vinegar also were watching what they were eating a little more than usual.  Or maybe they really did still eat the same and lose weight, I just find it a little suspect.

I still believe that ACV has tons of health benefits, and do believe that it assists in your stomach acid’s ability to digest foods properly, so I think if you’re trying to lose weight, maybe if you’re taking some sort of natural appetite suppressant diet pill, you could add ACV to your regimen since it can help break down food easier and also may keep you more regular, enhancing your digestive process and therefore your weight loss quest.

There are a plethora of additional health benefits of ACV that can be read about.  Some claim that it has helped their skin clear up, they don’t get sick as often, they never get upset stomachs, it helps with constipation, and even may help fight some diseases.  So that alone should make apple cider vinegar a worthy friend to all that think about taking it for its beneficial health properties.

Natural Sugar Substitutes

Filed under: Dietary Supplements, Low Cal Ideas — EatingToLive @ 1:12 pm

I have written before that I like to use natural sugar substitutes in my coffee, drinks, and other things that I might typically use sugar as a sweetener. In actuality, sugar is not necessarily a high calorie food, with a teaspoon not amounting to much, it’s just the effects of that little teaspoon on my blood sugar glucose levels and its subsequent effects on my appetite later in the day that I’m trying to avoid.

I had previously used Splenda, and before that, I used the “pink stuff”, Sweet ‘n Low, and although I did think they were a great tasting alternative to sugar, I read bad things about their side effects, and was concerned that by trying to save a few calories and my blood sugar level, I was actually doing more harm than good.

In fact, some studies on phony sugar substitutes clearly come to the conclusion that the phony sugar substitutes actually are more detrimental to your blood sugar and actually make you crave more sweets in the end, more so than even regular sugar, so that was the end of that for me!

So, I found Stevia, a truly all natural sweetener with absolutely no side effects that is only made from the natural stevia plant. I use the little green packets you find at the natural foods store.

Because I wanted to branch out and try others, I tried another brand also recently that I was not impressed with at all. it’s in a yellow packet and it’s called Zero Sugar, and is made also from an all natural ingredient, but it seemed like I had to put five packets in to get any sweetness out of it at all. So, for now I’m sticking with the stevia.

You may want to look into it. You just have to be careful, because using too much stevia can make your drink bitter, but as soon as you get the trick of it down, you will be pleasantly surprised at how your taste adapts to this all natural sugar alternative.

Ephedra in the News Again : Company Illegally Adds to Supplements

Filed under: Dietary Supplements — EatingToLive @ 4:13 pm

Ephedra, the “natural” stimulant substance that was found so prominently in so many diet and health and fitness supplements for fat loss and muscle building in years past, and has since been banned by the FDA for unnecessary and substantial risk of bodily harm, is sort of in the news again today.

A health and nutritional company that was on the rise for selling many body building and health products, is now being indicted for a federal investigation for some allegedly very shady dealings, including marketing diet supplements that contain the banned ephedra stimulant.

The company is called Hi-Tech, and prosecutors are alleging that the owner and most of the employees engaged in activity ranging from shady business dealing to criminal activity.  That criminal activity?  Allegedly, the discussed killing and FDA agent who was investigating the business to try to squash the building case against them.  I know, bad, bad stuff, huh?

Not only that, they also are accused of running online pharmacies that said their drugs were from Canada but were in fact manufactured in a second rate, unsanitary warehouse in Belize.  Add to their repertoire the fact that ephedra, the banned substance here in the US was secretly included in some of their products, as well as prescription drugs without disclosure on the labels, and you’ve got one all-around criminal operation!

The company of course has pleaded not guilty on all charges, but to me, it sounds like they’re fighting a losing battle, with all the counts against them.  I actually had to take a medicine with ephedra in it yesterday, I didn’t have any cold medicine of my own at work, and had to borrow a Sudafed from a coworker.

That stuff is very scary, at least for my body.  It speeds my heart rate up so fast, and at one point, I felt almost like I was having a panic attack, my heart was pumping so fast.

Needless to say, I’d really like to stay away from ever taking the substance ephedra again, even if it is for a cold or allergy medicine, which is legal for it to be in.

Proactol : Exciting New Fat Binder?

Filed under: Weight Loss, Dietary Supplements, Diet and Weightloss News — EatingToLive @ 12:56 pm

I have a little exciting information on a product that is not quite ready to be released to market, but with any luck, will soon be - and it’ll be available over the counter, without a prescription because it is safe and needs minimal supervision, which makes it even more appealing.

It’s called Proactol as of now, and will soon be released so I can give you a full assessment of the product which is supposed to bind to fat and make you lose weight a lot more quickly and effectively than if you were not on the supplement.

I may even order some of this Proactol stuff for myself after the holidays if it’s out by then, so I can shed those inevitable cookies and candy and chocolate pounds with more ease!

Ephedra Ban Appeal Failed?

Filed under: Dietary Supplements, Herbal Supplements — EatingToLive @ 5:26 pm

I just got an email from a nutrition company (won’t mention names) from whom I’ve bought some health and diet products from before on the appeal to the ban on ephedra which failed.  By appeal on the ban, I mean there were people fighting hard to lift the ban on ephedra and not make a it a permanent ban, despite the obvious health risks involved with this potentially dangerous stimulant.

They’ve sent me a couple of emails appealing to my senses of getting on board to buy something that would soon be banned, but little do they know, I’ve had terrible experiences with ephedra, before it was banned and you could find it in virtually every OTC diet aid in your local drug store.

Supposedly, the appeal to reverse the ban on ephedra was refused by the FDA on October 16th, a mere 11 days ago. The Federal Court of Appeals in Denver, CO ruled that the previous ruling to ban ephedra across the board did not violate the law. The companies which sell ephedra ephedra products have run out of appeals and the days of buying ephedra are supposedly over and done with, completely.

It never fails to surprise me how long these bans take to truly take effect once and for all.  I really thought ephedra had been banned for good a while ago, especially since I have not seen any in any of the stores I visit, and it is widely known this natural herb for dieting has been banned……
